Clarification On The Procedure For Accepting Or Rejecting The BOF Budget

I asked a BOF member on the procedure for voting, accepting or rejecting the budget.  As explained to me this is the procedure.

On April 27 the BOF will hear comments from the public on the proposed budget.  That night the BOF will vote on a final budget number.

On May 11th a town meeting will be held and the budget approved by the BOF on April 27th will be presented to the town.

The town has the right to comment.  During the meeting a motion can be made by a town resident to lower the budget.    If the motion is accepted the residents at the meeting will vote to accept the reduced budget or reject it.  A motion can not be made to raise the budget.

If any budget is not approved, meaning a rejection of the BOF approved budget or rejection of a resident proposed lower budget, the BOF goes back to work with a clean slate.

They can after the rejection of their proposed budget or the resident proposed lower budget present a higher or lower budget for approval by the town residents.  And so it goes till a budget is approved.

Some towns have a limit to how many times a new budget can be presented for vote.  I don’t know if Marlborough has such a stop limit.

Can someone comment if Marlborough has a limit?
