Just keep in mind that Bill Black and Joe LaBella consitute a 2/3 majority on the Board of Selectmen, so they have control over who gets appointed. Back a few years ago I circulated a petition calling for the formation of a Charter Revision Commisison. First Selectman Howard Dean appointed a commisison and his input led to a product that was eventually voted down. I would hate to see the same thing happen again. It takes 16 to 18 months for the Commission to complete its work, which would take us to right before the 2011 elections, at which time the Board of Selectmen will be up for election. Is that why Bill has finally decided to make the Charter an issue. Why didn’t he bring this forward three years ago? It makes you wonder what his true intentions are.
The Marlborough Republican Town Committee will be holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday November 4th at 7:30PM in the school library. Any registered Republican interested in serving on the Charter Commisison is welcomed to speak to the RTC to introduce themselves and to express their desire for a recommendation.
