Questions About The Peckinpaugh Pollster

The Peckinpaugh campaign yesterday released an “internal” poll showing her beating the other GOP candidates quite handily. By a rather comfortable margin.

The “results” of the poll were eagerly published on just about every news outlet that mattered in Connecticut.

But what do we know about Peckinpaugh’s pollster? Not much. The polling firm Brooklawn Strategies LLC has a very low public profile. Indeed only one mention of the polling firm can be found on the internet.

The question is, are they knowledgable in the science of polling?  A reasonable question given that the poll is offered as proof positive that Peckinpaugh is the most viable GOP candidate to unseat Democrat Joe Courtney.

Here is what we know.

The Linkedin profile of a Christopher Russo lists him as a partner at Brooklawn Strategies, LLC.

Mr Russo also lists his experience as working for Robert D. Russo, Attorney at Law, Campaign Manager at Herbst for Trumbull, Campaign Manager at Russo for Senate, and Campaign Coordinator at Russo for Senate ’08.

That’s it. No experience given as a Pollster and no website.

In light of this, and considering the rather large margin that Ms. Peckinpaugh’s Poll had her beating the other candidates, we think it is appropriate for the Peckinpaugh campaign to publish the actual questions.

Indeed we will give the Peckinpaugh campaign ample space here.

And indeed we chide the media for giving this “poll” credibility.  Should this not been treated as suspect, and questions asked before widespread distribution?

Having been the subject of many polls in the recent months, we can tell you it is very obivous very quickly who is paying for the polls we have been subjected to.  The questions in the polls we have been asked are very slanted to the desired and paid for outcome.    We have cut the “interview” off and replied, “no thanks” to many of these.

Is the Peckinpaugh poll one of these?  We honestly don’t know, but the qualifications of the Peckingpaugh’s pollster are not evident.
