Dubitsky Questions Novak’s Endorsement Claim
Press Release

Doug Dubitsky for Congress
Immediate Release
Doug Dubitsky, Republican candidate for Congress in Connecticut’s 2nd Congressional District said today that one of his GOP rivals for the seat is misusing former President Ronald Reagan’s name in an effort to mislead voters.
In campaign literature, Daria Novak claims to have an endorsement from the beloved Republican president, who passed away in 2004. “Ms. Novak is attempting to exploit a form letter from years ago, and is now portraying it as an endorsement of her campaign to represent the people of the 2nd District,” said Dubitsky. “This is ridiculous. A form letter that thousands of federal employees likely received at some point during the 1980s certainly does not show that Ronald Reagan supports her campaign.”
Ms. Novak’s improper exploitation of the decades-old form letter demonstrates a current lack of judgment. To say she has an ‘endorsement’ from President Reagan is an obvious attempt to deceive voters into believing Ronald Reagan endorsed her candidacy in this election. “Her misrepresentation of Ronald Reagan’s words, unfortunately, says more about Ms. Novak than does any
thing in the letter itself. It raises questions about her credibility – questions Joe Courtney would surely exploit against her. If Ms. Novak would misuse President Reagan’s name, the voters of this district should ask what else she would do to get elected to Congress, and what she would do to stay there.”
Dubitsky and Novak are two of the candidates facing off in the August 10th Republican primary to challenge Democrat Joe Courtney in the November general election. Dubitsky has garnered wide support with his consistent message of restoring limited constitutional govern
ment, and fighting against federal deficits, debt, bail-outs, handouts and takeovers.
“The voters of the 2nd District are not stupid. They will see through Ms. Novak’s deception. They will evaluate each candidate on his or her ideas and their capability to put those ideas into action. Campaign gimmicks and deceptions won’t fool the people of this District. I can defeat Joe Courtney in November. My ideas stand up to real-world scrutiny; my blue collar background, legislative experience, and legal skills speak to my ability to get the job done,” said Dubitsky.
