GOP Candidate Says Opponent is Ducking Debates, Voters
Doug Dubitsky, Republican candidate for Congress in Connecticut’s 2nd District, wants
to know why Daria Novak is hiding.
“She didn’t attend the televised debate moderated by Tom Monahan on NBC last week,
and she has refused numerous invitations to participate in the debate hosted by the Tolland
County Republican Town Committee Chairs,” said Dubitsky, who is facing Novak and Janet
Peckinpaugh in the August 10th primary. “Republicans in the 2nd District deserve to know
where the candidates stand on the issues and what their qualifications are to hold public office.
But Ms. Novak refuses to debate, raising questions about her ability to adequately represent this
District.”
The three candidates are vying for the Republican nomination to challenge the incumbent
Democrat Congressman Joe Courtney in November’s general election.
“Why does Ms. Novak continue to avoid opportunities to explain her positions and to
differentiate herself from me and Ms. Peckinpaugh? She appears to be worried she will be asked
questions she doesn’t want to answer, or that she will reveal something that will jeopardize her
candidacy,” said Dubitsky. “But if Daria Novak won’t stand up to debate other Republicans,
how would she ever stand up to Joe Courtney?”
In her own campaign statements Ms. Novak asks, “Where’s Joe Courtney?” The voters
of this District are entitled to know: Where’s Daria Novak?
